Is it time for a new third political party? Maybe it is. With the Democrats representing the Left (Woke) and the Republicans acting as the Right (Conservative) the time is most definitely right for a political party that is in the Center (Moderate).
There is just too much polarization going on. The Woke love to shout down anyone that disagrees with their political principles and the Conservatives just rattle on how they will ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA). Plus they love to shout about how the Woke are so out of touch.
Well I got news for both parties. They are out of touch with American (USA) values and ideals. Most people here in the United States tend to be more Moderate in political stance than our society recognizes.
Here is a good definition of what a Moderate is, from Wikipedia, Moderates identify as neither liberal nor conservative, holding a mix of beliefs that does not necessarily correspond to either group. They typically believe that issues are too complex for simple partisan solutions to work and that the two major political parties are too ideological. Some policy stances have strong support from moderates, including background checks on gun purchases and investing in renewable energy. Beyond a resistance to the terms liberal and conservative, there is little that unites moderates ideologically, and moderates can hold a variety of political positions. As of 2021, over one-third of the American public self-identifies as moderate. Self-identified moderates make up about one-third of the Democratic Party, about one-fifth of the Republican Party, and about half of independents.
So in my humble opinion with the polarization and insult calling plus the just plain idea that they won’t listen to political debate without shouting down the opposing side. It just makes sense that a new party dedicated the Moderation in its political views needs to be formed.
One party that is espousing this stance is the American Moderate Party. Their political philosophy per their website is as follows. ‘Our two-party system is dysfunctional. People are tired of partisan rhetoric, culture wars, double standards, tribalism, power grabs, dishonesty and demagoguery. Many yearn for an approach to government that values common sense, decency, facts, logic, humility and integrity, but feel like they don’t belong in any of the current political parties…until now…meet the American Moderate Party.‘
Sounds nice to me. But I am not endorsing them nor encouraging anyone to join them. They are being shown as an example of what could be America’s best hope for a better tomorrow. Or not. This party is quite correct in saying that our political two party setup is broken and I mean very broken. When political opposites can not talk to each other in a civil manner and neither will compromise. This just reeks of hypocrisy and those who espouse non interaction with the other side of the aisle should be kept out of office. They do not in anyway make for a good functioning government!
Ross Perot was right to create a third party and run in 1992. It was unfortunate that he was, going to say this in a kind way, not the right person to be on the ticket.
A third party that is Moderate based may not succeed in 2023 nor in the very near future. But in the long term I truly believe that they would and this is what the United States does need.
I will leave you with this thought. Sit down and write on a piece of paper what your belief values are. Then and only then see how they align with either party. My bet is that neither party will be a good political fit for you. Think about that and it is my hope that a third party does stand up to our two existing polarizing parties.
That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
