As of today the Teacher’s Pension Fund is no where near the needed monies to fund pensions for future retirees, our Transportation Trust Fund is near broke, the ever growing taxation of our properties and taxes/fees in general that are all way too much for all of us to pay.

Some are not going to like this, but Chris Christy has made a difference in your lives in a positive manner. Yes he has neglected this state as he runs for President and he needs to be more on top of the issues important to all of us here in New Jersey; what I am talking about is that Christy needs to address our overwhelming tax structure. All it does is to serve the public unions and not the people. What he has done right is kept taxes and fees down to more reasonable levels. If the Democrats had gotten back in they would have raised taxes and fees to a level that would eventually empty the state of taxpayers. I am very sorry to have to say that as a party the Democrats have failed to grasp the fact that our tax system is messed up and onerous.

If the next Governor of this state is a Progressive Democrat, then this state will die a slow death from over taxation without any relief for the middle class. That is not to say that a Republican would be much better, he or she could be worse. It all depends on you the voting public to make your voices heard over the Political Lobbyists.

Small business is the backbone of the economy of our nation and this state. Big business is not the economic engine that can propel this state out of the economic crisis it is in! And if something is not done about our repressive and regressive business laws, then we will never flourish as an economic powerhouse state ever again. A long time ago this state not only had thriving agricultural businesses, we also manufactured many industrial and consumer items that this growing country needed.

One of the important things that must be encouraged is the attraction of businesses to this state. If we do not get more businesses to relocate and keep them here, then our economy will diminish until the state goes bankrupt.

The one thing that we all must remember is not to blame all our economic problems on the public unions, the politicians or ourselves. Some things are out of our economic control and we must realize that no one group is to blame. In fact it is everyone’s fault!

So all of us must get together and work toward real solutions with realistic expectations that will result in things that set the financial wheels of our state economy in motion.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike

In Part 2 of New Jersey’s Future I will talk about our financial future.
