Why is it so hard to get a gun permit and if you are just a normal citizen of New Jersey wanting a concealed carry permit, well you are out of luck. No one that is a civilian, except for a privileged few, will ever get one.<\/span><\/p>\n

All of this is done to supposedly to keep us safe! Safe from who; the people who have the illegal guns or from ourselves? Our citizens are being denied their second amendment constitutional rights and no one seems to realize that most of those who want to get a gun are just going through the motions and getting no results. You are supposed to be processed within thirty days of applying for a gun permit and many police chiefs are denying people by just letting the applications sit in someone\u2019s inbox until there is a complaint about how long it is taking. And even then you may never get the permit for some ridiculous reason.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now let just suppose you get a gun permit and buy a gun, be it a pistol or rifle. Here are the rules you have to follow when transporting it to and from a firing range.<\/span><\/p>\n

State law requires<\/a> that a gun “shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported, and in the course of travel, shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances<\/em>.”<\/span><\/p>\n

In other words lock it away where you can not get to it quickly and go directly to the firing range. Do not deviate by stopping somewhere on the way there or back. If you do and are stopped, well then you are out of luck and will be arrested. Yes I said arrested, for you have broken the law. How stupid are the rules? Very in my humble opinion and these rules are very unforgiving, there have been cases where people have been convicted and the Governor has pardoned them. Why did he pardon them, the answer is that he realizes that New Jersey gun laws are over the top and make no sense. They do not prevent crime and all they do is deny people their second amendment rights.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is a link<\/a> to a lawyer who specializes in getting people gun permits. He lists on his site what will get you denied and it is quite a stupid number of rules that in the end game make no sense. Notice that he says that if you employ him to help you get your gun permit; he can expedite it faster than you can. Something bothers me about the fact that you need to hire an attorney to make sure you get the permit in a reasonable amount of time. This is ridiculous, as the law says the police only have thirty days to process the permit!<\/span><\/p>\n

The Governor has had a panel look at our gun laws<\/a> and they have recommendations that make sense. I doubt that anything will happen while our Governor is running for President. As the Democrats do not want to do anything that would make Christy look good.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just to make it very clear that I do not have any bias on this topic, I want to make it known that I do not own a gun of any kind nor have I even fired a gun or rifle. It just bothers me that basic rights are being denied.<\/span><\/p>\n

I notice that this blog is getting a little too long and will one day soon write on our crazy concealed gun carrying laws.<\/span><\/p>\n
