New Jersey is an unique state in many ways. From its location to the people who live here and yet many outside of our great state look down on us Jerseyans.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Well I must just start out by saying they have a distorted perspective on this state and its people. We Jerseyans are a diverse lot and while the political majority is Democrats, we have elected Republican Governors and United States Senators\/Representatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our population lives in small towns and in large developed urban centers. You can get to the Jersey Shore in a reasonable amount of time from just about anywhere in the state. Plus our shoreline is the longest contiguous one on the East Coast.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

While are schools cost us a lot of money, the education our children receive is top notch and the medical facilities are some of the best in the nation. Yet our children are leaving the state in droves, never again to live in the state where they grew up in. Maybe this is because the taxes are much too high and the greed of our politicians is unbounded. And yet I find many who still love this state as I do.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

New Jersey is home to many inventions, from the light bulb to the transistor. Many famous actors and singers were born here such as Whitney Houston, Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Danny DeVito, Lou Costello, and many others. Also many historical events have happened here; such as the Battles of Trenton, Princeton and many others during the American Revolution. The Lindberg baby was kidnapped in little Hopewell NJ, the first practical submarine was made here, baseball as we know it was first played here, football started here with the game between Rutgers and Princeton, the dirigible Hindenburg disaster happened in Lakehurst NJ and many other historical events happened here in little old New Jersey.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is something that not many people know; the tiny hamlet of Trenton was going to be the capital of the brand new United States only to lose out to Washington DC due to political machinations of southern politicians. Yes it is true and I know that it sounds too fantastic to almost have happened. It would have transformed this state into something we would not recognize today.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes, I know that I have only touched upon the very tip of the proverbial iceberg and yet somehow our school systems throughout New Jersey and the Nation do not even acknowledge the world changing events that have taken place here.
