The President said per The Sun, “Yesterday’s chemical attack against innocent people – their deaths were an affront to humanity. These heinous actions by the Assad regime cannot be tolerated.” It seems that the outrageous gas attack by Assad and the news reports that many children were hurt (killed) by the gas attack have swayed the President to decide to flex America’s might and make a clear cut statement that we will not let these gas attacks go on.

Why now did we attack when Trump has stated that Obama’s consideration of doing what he has done would have made us look very bad? It seems that because of the very heinous nature of the gas attack(s) and maybe the influence of his wife he changed his mind. In either case he has done what he has considered previously the wrong thing to do. President Putin of Russia is very irate about the attack on an ally he has been propping up. The big problem is there are disturbing parallels between what is happening now and the events leading up to World War I.

The alliances between Russia and many of the countries in the Middle East parallel the secret treaties of World War I and the United States also has alliances with many other countries in the Middle Eastern region. Could the right circumstances trigger a war (official or non-official) between the two great super powers? The answer is understanding the two main players, Trump and Putin, both have large egos and do not fully understand each other. This inability to anticipate either of these leaders thoughts on what they will do in certain critical situations could be the trigger that could quite possibly trigger a conflict leading to all out war!

I for one am getting a little nervous about Putin’s over the top reaction to the airstrike and his non-condemnation of the gas attacks. He seems to be reverting to his days in the old KGB. And Trump’s reaction is also a little disconcerting also, because of his previous statement that he would do no such thing.

Hopefully Putin will calm down and realize that Assad is not worth his backing. And President Trump should stop saying one thing and doing another, the inconsistency of his actions makes him very hard to figure out. This is very dangerous because other leaders can not predict what actions or non-actions Trump will do.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike

Is this the beginning of a time of instability in the world?
