I flat out reject the \u2018us versus them\u2019 approach to our economy \u2013 it is time we get back to thinking about \u2018we.&#8217;<\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">My problem with this statement is that capitalistic economic model does not work this way, but the communist economic model does. Per <a href=\"http:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/c\/capitalism.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Investopedia<\/a>, \u201c<em>Capitalism is an economic system in which capital goods are owned by private individuals or businesses. The production of goods and services is based on supply and demand in the general market (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/m\/marketeconomy.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">market economy<\/a>), rather than through central planning (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/c\/centrally-planned-economy.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">planned economy<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/c\/command-economy.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">command economy<\/a>).<\/em>\u201d So the model we use is an &#8216;Us versus Them&#8217; one and that can not be realistically changed. It can be made more compassionate\/ethical and that is what I hope Mr. Murphy is trying to express in his own way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">What Murphy wants to do as governor of our great state is as follows-<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><em>Raise minimum wage to $15 an hour<\/em><\/strong><em>, so that those who want to work can support their family and ensure that no one who works full time in 2017 lives in poverty.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><em>Guarantee earned sick leave statewide<\/em><\/strong><em>, because no one should have to choose between a job and caring for a loved one.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><em>Ensure equal pay for equal work<\/em><\/strong><em>.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><em>Expand the EITC to 40 percent of federal level<\/em><\/strong><em>, so that working families can lift themselves out of poverty.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><em>Create a new child care and caregiver tax credit<\/em><\/strong><em> to alleviate the high cost of caring for a family in NJ.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><em>And finally <strong>make millionaires and corporations pay their fair share<\/strong> of taxes, so we can make the investments we need in our schools.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">By raising the minimum wage New Jersey will cause the demise of many menial jobs, such as those working in the food service industry. There are already machines that can make hamburgers and in many stores there already exists electronic food ordering machines. So raising the minimum wage is not very realistic as it was and is meant only for entry level workers. It should not be considered a job level that one could live on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Guaranteeing earned sick leave is wonderful for the employee, but for a small company it could make or break them. It sounds wonderful and it is a good idea, but it must be carried out with compassion to both to the employee and employer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Ensure equal pay for equal work sounds nice, but it is very difficult to achieve and how this would be carried out will be interesting to see. As far as a Female getting the same pay as Male worker doing the exact same job that is something that should be embraced by all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Mr. Murphy wants to expand the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.state.nj.us\/humanservices\/dfd\/programs\/eitc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Earned Income Tax Credit<\/a> (EITC) to equal the federal one is fine if the state can afford to do so. If it would further strain our already fragile state economy then I think that it would be best to leave it as it is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Creating a tax credits for child care and one for caregivers again could strain our economy to the breaking point. It is not the state\u2019s responsibility to help pay for the cost of having a child, it is your own!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Finally again the call for a Millionaires Tax raises its ugly head. Don\u2019t be fooled into thinking that those that who would be defined as millionaires could not just leave the state and move into a nearby state that does not tax them to death. And the same goes for raising the already stifling corporation taxes, why does everyone think that by taxing corporations to death it will save the state. The corporations can also just leave, thus damaging our economy even more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Mr. Murphy is following the Progressive Liberal line of thinking that to me is very unrealistic. He should move his economic thinking toward the middle ground and join the rest of the real world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif; font-size: 18pt;\">I will continue with Part 4 next week.
