Jumping to conclusions is what is happening after the terrible shooting massacre in Las Vegas yesterday. Many people in positions of influence have somehow come to the conclusion that we need even tighter gun control without all the facts having been discovered.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We do not know what the shooter\u2019s motivation were or how long he was planning on doing this. Without all the pertinent information how can anyone come to any relevant answers, much less any concrete solutions?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Television and the movies have had given us a distorted view of what happens in a police investigation. CSI, NCIS and Criminal Minds for example solve 99 percent cases before the hour is done; in reality the resolution of cases is 64 percent for homicides (2013 statistics<\/a>). And the rates are even lower for other crimes, reality is shocking. Fantasy does not give us a true view of what really happens in real life situations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lady Gaga, Caleb Keeter (part of the Josh Abbott Band), Hillary Clinton and others have stood up to say more gun control is needed without all of the facts (about the shootings in Las Vegas).<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hillary for example tweeted this<\/a> \u201cOur grief isn’t enough. We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again<\/em>.\u201d And then this \u201cThe crowd fled at the sound of gunshots. Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get<\/em>.\u201d She talks about putting politics aside, but what she is doing is very political in nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It has been said that it is not a time for politics, but it is a time for mourning and the comforting of both the families of the victims and the survivors. My own thoughts are that until all the facts come to light, there is no way any viable conclusions can be drawn. Now is the time to mourn, it is not a time to react. We do not need \u2018knee jerk\u2019 political solutions that sound good, but do not offer any concrete solutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

President Trump said the following in a televised speech<\/a> to the nation, \u201cMy fellow Americans, we are joined together today in sadness, shock, and grief.\u00a0 It was an act of pure evil.\u201d Trump did not speculate on a motive for the attack and said people were understandably searching \u201cfor some kind of meaning in the chaos, some kind of light in the darkness.\u201d \u201cThe answers,\u201d the president said, \u201cdo not come easy.\u201d <\/em>I rarely agree with the President, but in this case he is right, the answers will not come easily and it will take time.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let us remember that this is not a movie or television show, it is real life and it will take time to find the needed answers.<\/span><\/p>\n
