Apple has been secretly slowing down your older model iPhone! And they have been doing it without telling the people who own them that all they have to do is have the battery replaced to make it faster.<\/span><\/p>\n

Well since Apple’s been very secretive in the past on many things that they do, it is not surprising to many that they have been purposely slowing down their old model iPhones to improve their performance. Per MacRumors<\/a>, Apple \u201cconfirmed that it has implemented power management features<\/a> in older iPhones to improve performance and prevent unexpected shutdowns as the battery in the devices starts to degrade, and this admission has now led to a class action lawsuit, which was first noticed by <\/i>TMZ<\/i><\/a><\/em>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Now that the facts have been admitted to by Apple they are being sued by two men who noticed the slowdown of their iPhones. Both \u201chave owned the iPhone 7 and several older iPhone models and have noticed that their “older iPhone models slows (sic) down when new models come out.” The two say they did not consent to have Apple slow down their devices, nor were they able to “choose whether they preferred to have their iPhones slower than normal.” They’re seeking both California and Nationwide class action certification, which would cover all persons residing in the United States who have owned iPhone models older than the iPhone 8.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Apple says the reason they are doing this is to prevent unexpected shutdowns due to the strain on older batteries. OK, that sounds reasonable,but the problem is that they hid the problem from users of their product and affected the performance of older iPhones without informing the owners of these devices that all they had to do is replace the battery.<\/span><\/p>\n

This seems to be typical problem management and until now it seems that Apple did not want the public to know what they were doing. Well with this lawsuit and the admittance by Apple, we the buying public might take a moment to think about such polices. And how by hiding them from the public, Apple might have many other secrets that they have not told us.<\/span><\/p>\n

My level of trust with Apple has never been very high and now I would not buy an Apple product for fear that they will take some feature away on a whim. What will be the next admission by Apple? Only they know.<\/span><\/p>\n
