We just had our Primary Election this Tuesday, did you vote?<\/span><\/p>\n

That is a very pertinent question that seems to show a very big problem. The problem being that too few vote and those elected by them think they have a mandate when they do not.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just look at this (from the New York Times<\/a>):<\/span><\/p>\n

See how few voters have turned out, well this happened in the last General Election too. And that is not good, for a democracy to be truly democratic, people have to turn out to vote.<\/span><\/p>\n

When Murphy was elected Governor (per NJ.com<\/a>), \u201cThe latest tally of votes by the Associated Press as of 9:16 a.m. on Wednesday had 2,019,665 votes being cast in the Garden State on Tuesday.\u00a0 According to the latest state Division of Elections data, 5,754,862 voters were registered to vote in Tuesday’s election.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

That puts our preliminary voter turnout at a laughably low 35.1 percent, well below even those predictions of a record-low turnout.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This is not only abysmal, but just plain frightening. For a very few have decided who should be elected to office for the majority. Our governor thinks that he has a mandate when in fact he just might have won because of voter apathy.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is my opinion that the people of New Jersey are just fed-up with all the political backroom deals and other shady politics. What they (and I) want is an election where the candidates truly represent the wants and needs of the people of this state. Not candidates put up by the political bosses who only care about themselves and not the people of this state.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our state needs leaders who will do the hard things that need to be done. Such as fixing our crazy property tax system, reduce the costs of retirement plans for state employees and be able to make this state attractive to companies so that they will move here to do business.<\/span><\/p>\n

Until our state political bosses are put out of a job, we the people of New Jersey will continue to suffer from the want of money to pay this state’s ridiculous taxes and fees.<\/span><\/p>\n
