[symple_spacing size=”80″]So, do you think the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act<\/a> (Obama Care) is working? Since I live and write in New Jersey this will use information and statistics for this state. A poll<\/a> in New Jersey makes it a tie whether you support the act or not. Maybe that is because the semi-affordable plans are now gone due to the rules of this act. These plans<\/a> existed prior to Obama Care and for the most part are still too expensive for what you got. Now all the plans are too expensive for those who need them except for those on Familycare<\/a>.<\/h4>\n

Has the price of medical insurance gone down for you? A study shows<\/a> that it will go up. Somehow I have the feeling that is not what is wanted by anyone and could it be that the act needs some revisions? After all it was quickly put together and no one in congress ever read the whole act before voting on it. I might add that I think rushing it through was a very stupid thing to do. But, we are stuck with what we have until it is either revised or as a drastic measure, as seen by the Democratic Party, it is repealed. Since it was signed into law the Republicans have been trying without success to repeal the act, but is this the best thing to do?<\/h4>\n

Yes, Obama Care has many problems and needs massive amounts of revisions to make it less draconian and more affordable, both for the employer and employee. It has to be remembered that Social Security was thought of as a radical concept back in the 1930’s when it first was enacted. But, today it is an excepted and wanted program. Hopefully congress will not scrap Obama Care, but instead hopefully both parties can get together and repair its faults to make it work as intended.<\/h4>\n

One of the main features is that no matter what your health condition(s) is when you apply for insurance you must be accepted without any conditions or penalties. This is a radical step in the right direction. When applying for insurance before this act went into effect you could be denied or have restrictions placed on your policy. This is a very needed step in the right direction.<\/h4>\n

One of the problems with Obama Care is that everyone needs to be signed up to help keep the cost of insurance down. The young are supplementing the old and with so many of the younger generation not signing up it is difficult to keep the cost of insurance down. Now that penalties will go into effect by the end of this year (2014) the question has to be asked will the young who typically do not need health insurance sign up or just pay the penalty? And if they elect to pay the penalty because they can not find affordable health insurance plans in their state what will happen? Will insurance costs go up further out of reach for everyone or will the act have to be repealed because it can not attract the young to buy a policy?<\/h4>\n

I have no answers to those two questions and the experts who helped write this act probably did not foresee this as being a problem. The debate will go on and I for one hope that this act is not be completely repealed, but instead revised with an eye toward more affordable policies for those who need them.<\/h4>\n
