The song ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ is being attacked for being about rape, etc. It is the MeToo movement and the Progressive politically correct that are reading something into a song that has nothing to do with rape.<\/span><\/p>\n

From genius.com<\/a>, \u201c‘Baby, It\u2019s Cold Outside’ was originally written by Frank Loesser<\/a> in 1944 and has subsequently been covered countless times during the festive period, famously by Dean Martin and Marilyn Maxwell in 1959.<\/i>\u201d Furthermore \u201cThe track has faced backlash over it\u2019s forceful nature towards the female protagonist, propagated by an American radio station banned the song<\/a> over in support of the #metoo<\/a> movement.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

If you look at the lyrics as suggested by those who think that the song is anti-woman, you can plainly see that it is a playful song from the World War II <\/span>period<\/span> and only if you have a dirty mind will you think that this song should be banned.<\/span><\/p>\n

For example one of the lines is \u201cBut maybe just a half a drink more (Put some records on while I pour)
\nThe neighbors might think (Baby, it’s bad out there, Say, what’s in this drink? (No cab’s to be had out there)<\/i>\u201d <\/i>The woman is saying that she wants a little more to drink and he asks her to put on some records. Then it goes on with the refrain and next with her asking what is in the drink. So those with dirty minds come immediately up the idea that a date rape drug has been put into her drink. Mixed drinks were popular during this period and her asking what is in the drink is totally innocent.<\/span><\/p>\n

The song continues and towards the end this is sung,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI’ve gotta get home (But, baby, you’d freeze out there)
\nSay, lend me a coat (It’s up to your knees out there)
\nYou’ve really been grand (I thrill when you touch my hand)
\nBut don’t you see? (How can you do this thing to me?)
\nThere’s bound to be talk tomorrow (Think of my lifelong sorrow)
\nAt least there will be plenty implied (If you got pneumonia and died)<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Nothing dirty here either, just him saying that it’s cold outside and the snow is up to her knees and with her asking for the loan of a coat. Then it goes on with how people will talk tomorrow and how people with surmise that they slept together, even if they did not. Again only a truly dirty mind would find anything wrong.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a playful song that is totally innocent and should be enjoyed. When it came out in the 1940’s, it might have been considered racy, but not overtly sexual. Remember back then the society standards about sex were much more strict.<\/span><\/p>\n

So just enjoy this nice song and stop with the nonsense!<\/span><\/p>\n
