It is projected to\u00a0cost $39 million and reduce border apprehensions from 100,000 per day to 5,000 per day for those 13 miles. Emigrants find other paths.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Then in 1996, \u201c<i>Clinton signs the Illegal Immigration Reform and Responsibility Act, increasing fines for illegal entry and approving funding for more patrols and fence construction. Emigrants shift away from the traditional crossings into privately held land, causing landowners to fence their property.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">President Bush in 2006 \u201c<i>signs the Secure Fences act, promising 700 miles of fencing on the border, plus a virtual wall across the entire 2,000-mile border.<\/i>\u201d Then in 2007, \u201c<i>The Department of Homeland Security argues that it is impossible to construct the same type of fencing \u2013 i.e. a wall \u2013 across the border\u2019s diverse terrain, and asks for and gets an amendment allowing a variety of barriers including \u201cfencing, physical barriers, roads, lighting, cameras,\u201d with another $12 billion in funding.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">In 2011, \u201c<i>The Department of Homeland Security completes 649 miles of barriers, including 350 miles of pedestrian fencing, at an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oig.dhs.gov\/assets\/Mgmt\/OIG_09-56_Apr09.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estimated $6.5 million per mile<\/a>, and 299 miles of vehicle barriers that cost approximately $1.7 million per mile. But\u00a0$1 billion spent on a pilot program for \u201cvirtual surveillance\u201d in Arizona yields only 53 miles of coverage. With the backing of the DHS, the Obama administration cuts <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2011\/01\/15\/us\/politics\/15fence.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funding<\/a> for the rest of the hyper-expensive \u201cvirtual wall.\u201d<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">So the above brief history shows that Clinton, a Democrat built the first new section of a border wall with Bush (the son) expanding it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">My problem is that while the wall will stop those coming from Mexico and the Americas, it will do nothing to stop other illegal immigration. The Democrats are hypocrites for saying that they now do not see a border wall as a necessity and yet back in the near past no one stopped its construction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Why Trump thinks that by holding the government hostage by not agreeing to allow the funding of our government makes no sense to me. The wall is not something that will provide total security for us and the true solution is a mass immigration policy makeover.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Somehow the Democrats think that those who come here from down south will stay and want to become citizens that will vote Democratic. Well I have news for them, most just want to make money and then go back home. So the idea of a path to citizenship is just a big joke and a political noose in the long run.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">We need reform that will allow people to come in to work and then leave when they are finished. Somehow too many politicians have gotten into their heads that everyone who comes here wants to become a citizen, when that is far from the truth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Also there should be a way to make employers provide proof that those who work for them are here legally. By doing this those who have crossed our borders without permission will find that that can no longer work and thus will leave of their own accord.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Finally ICE should not be looked at as the villain, but as the tool that keeps us safe.
