\"Brining<\/a><\/p>\n

Our governor Murphy is crazy about brining our state roadways even when it is not going to snow or the temperature is above freezing. So today for fun I have rewritten Shakespeare’s \u201cTo be, or not to be, that is the question\u201d<\/a> speech from Hamlet as an tribute to whether to brine or not.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ode to brining<\/span>–<\/span><\/p>\n

To brine, or not to brine, that is the question:<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether ’tis nobler in the mind of Phil Murphy to suffer<\/span><\/p>\n

The slipping and sliding of imaginary snow storms,<\/span><\/p>\n

Or to take spread salt against a sea of troubles<\/span><\/p>\n

And by opposing end them. To melt\u2014to cover the road with white,<\/span><\/p>\n

No more; and by a melt to say we end<\/span><\/p>\n

The heart-ache and the thousand man made damages<\/span><\/p>\n

That flesh is heir to: ’tis a conundrum<\/span><\/p>\n

Devoutly to be wish’d. To brine, to weep about the cost;<\/span><\/p>\n

To sleep, perchance to dream\u2014ay,\u00a0there’s the rub:<\/span><\/p>\n

For in that sleep of winter what dreams may come,<\/span><\/p>\n

When we have shuffled off\u00a0this costly operation,<\/span><\/p>\n

Must give us pause\u2014there’s the ineptness of Murphy<\/span><\/p>\n

That makes calamity of so a political animal.<\/span><\/p>\n

For who would bear the taxes and improprieties of the state,<\/span><\/p>\n

Th’detractor’s wrong, the proud Murphy is contumely,<\/span><\/p>\n

The pangs of dispriz’d politics, the law’s delay,<\/span><\/p>\n

The insolence of office, and the spurns<\/span><\/p>\n

That patient merit of th’unworthy takes,<\/span><\/p>\n

When he himself might\u00a0his quietus make<\/span><\/p>\n

With brazen action?\u00a0Who would drivers fear,<\/span><\/p>\n

To grunt and sweat under a weary life of a politician,<\/span><\/p>\n

But that the dread of something after defeat,<\/span><\/p>\n

The undiscovere’d country, from whose goal<\/span><\/p>\n

No traveller crashes,\u00a0puzzles the will,<\/span><\/p>\n

And makes us rather bear those ills we have<\/span><\/p>\n

Than fly to others that we know not of?<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus conscience does make Murphy think of us all,<\/span><\/p>\n

And thus the native hue of resolution<\/span><\/p>\n

Is sicklied o’er with the pale cast of thought,<\/span><\/p>\n

And enterprises of great pitch and moment<\/span><\/p>\n

With this regard their currents turn awry<\/span><\/p>\n

And lose the name of action.<\/span><\/p>\n
