The race for the next President of the United States is well underway and Elizabeth Warren is targeting Facebook, Amazon and Google as this century’s AT&T. That is that they are powerful monopolies that need to be broken up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is an excerpt from an article Warren wrote for Medium<\/a> titled ‘Here\u2019s how we can break up Big\u00a0Tech’, \u201cTwenty-five years ago, Facebook, Google, and Amazon didn\u2019t exist. Now they are among the most valuable and well-known companies in the world. It\u2019s a great story\u200a\u2014\u200abut also one that highlights why the government must break up monopolies and promote competitive markets.<\/i>\u201d And she went on further with this, \u201cToday\u2019s big tech companies have too much power\u200a\u2014\u200atoo much power over our economy, our society, and our democracy. They\u2019ve bulldozed competition, used our private information for profit, and tilted the playing field against everyone else. And in the process, they have hurt small businesses and stifled innovation.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Per Wikipedia<\/a>, \u201cUnited States Antitrust law<\/b><\/i> is a collection of federal and state government laws that regulates the conduct and organization of business corporations, generally to promote fair competition for the benefit of consumers. (The concept is called competition law in other English-speaking countries.) The main statutes are the Sherman Act of 1890<\/a>, the Clayton Act of 1914<\/a> and the Federal Trade Commission Act of 1914<\/a>. These Acts, first, restrict the formation of cartels and prohibit other collusive practices regarded as being in restraint of trade. Second, they restrict the mergers and acquisitions of organizations that could substantially lessen competition. Third, they prohibit the creation of a monopoly and the abuse of monopoly power.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

So Senator Warren where do you get the idea that these three tech corporations are violating the anti-monopoly\/trust laws without any federal government intervention? Neither Obama or any of the previous Presidents have ever tried to break up these three, so what makes you think that you know better than they did? Plus you could have brought this up to the attention of the American people long before this.<\/span><\/p>\n

I believe that you are calling for the break up of these three in order to differentiate yourself from the myriad of candidates running for President. You are trying to fool the American people just as you used your supposed ancestry to differentiate yourself from the rest of the pack.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shame on you Senator Warren and may the American people see you for what you are, an opportunist and nothing more.<\/span><\/p>\n
