Thus, flavored vaping products are to be outlawed to prevent children from taking up vaping.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">From <a href=\"https:\/\/njbiz.com\/nj-become-first-us-ban-flavored-vaping-products\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NJBIZ<\/a>, \u201c<i>Senate Bill 3265, which Gov. Phil Murphy signed into law on Tuesday,<!--more--> bans the sale of most flavored of electronic cigarettes.<\/i>\u201d Governor Murphy stated that \u201c<i>Research shows that flavored electronic smoking devices and products, such as mint, candy, fruit, and chocolate, are extremely appealing, especially to children.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">What is really driving this vaping ban is the fact a number of people have become sick when using THC (marijuana) based flavoring. From the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/tobacco\/basic_information\/e-cigarettes\/severe-lung-disease.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CDC<\/a>, \u201c<i>the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), state and local health departments, and other clinical and public health partners are investigating a national outbreak of e-cigarette, or vaping, product use-associated lung injury (EVALI).<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">Also, \u201c<i>National and state data from patient reports and product sample testing suggest tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)-containing e-cigarette, or vaping, products, particularly from informal sources like friends, family, or in-person or online dealers, are linked to most EVALI cases and play a major role in the outbreak. <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><i>82% of hospitalized patients with data on substance use reported using THC-containing products; 33% reported exclusive use of THC-containing products <\/i><strong><i>(as of January 14, 2020)<\/i><\/strong><i>. <\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><i>50% of EVALI patients who reported using THC-containing products provided data on product source <\/i><strong><i>(as of January 7, 2020)<\/i><\/strong><i>. <\/i><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><i>16% reported acquiring products only from commercial sources (recreational and\/or medical dispensaries, vape or smoke shops, stores, and pop-up shops). <\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><i>78% reported acquiring products only from informal sources (family\/friends, dealers, online, or other sources). <\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><i>6% reported acquiring products from both commercial and informal sources. <\/i><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\"><i>CDC and FDA recommend that people not use THC-containing e-cigarette, or vaping, products, particularly from informal sources like friends, family, or in-person or online dealers.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">How banning flavored vaping products will prevent people from getting sick from THC laced e-cigarettes is a mystery to me. The Governor and the Legislature talk about kids (children) getting hooked on vaping because of flavors such as mint, gum, etc. I could understand their point if they just banned the sale of vaping products to those under 18.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">By signing this law and others that ban flavored vaping products the Governor has signaled the end of the vaping industry in New Jersey, which will cause tax revenues to become smaller. And also will force many ex-smokers back into the very harmful habit of smoking instead of vaping, which is a safer alternative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 18pt;\">This is all about reactive law making and stupidity on the part of our politicians.
