\"Statue<\/a><\/p>\n

Are the anarchists at work? With the toppling of a number of statues throughout the United States there does seem to be a high probability that they are.<\/span><\/p>\n

While statues of Civil War heroes have been vandalized and\/or removed from their pedestals there also has been damage or removal of two statues that have nothing to do with slavery, at least in a negative light. The statues of Ulysses S. Grant and Frederick Douglas<\/a> have been toppled, both of them are positive role models.<\/span><\/p>\n

The statue of Grant was removed in San Francisco<\/a> back on June 19th<\/sup>, this is the day that Juneteenth is celebrated, a day when the last slaves were freed in Texas. While Grant did own a slave at one time, he freed him on the eve of the Civil War and Grant came from an anti-slavery family. During his term as a General during the war he did nothing that can being construed as pro-slavery. Nor did he show any signs as President that he supported any position that would hurt either the ex-slaves or freemen of his time.<\/span><\/p>\n

And Frederick Douglas<\/a> was social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman <\/span>both before and after the Civil War. He was also an escaped slave and amazed many with his great intellect. Now there have been some speculation that his statue was toppled in retaliation of the toppling of confederate statues. That may or may not be true, but I think that it is more likely that the anarchists are at center of this movement to destabilize our country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today’s youth have drifted towards anarchy and socialism. Universities have plenty of people who are of this bent. It is too bad that these people do not seem to understand that they are beating a dead horse.<\/span><\/p>\n

I do hope that anyone who illegally removes, damages or topples a statue, no matter who it is, is caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.<\/span><\/p>\n
