This cycle can be repeated time and again, as those countries in Europe have demonstrated. But the problem is that every time we come out of a lockdown, we sooner than later go back into it.

There are those who await the arrival of a vaccine as the solution to end the seemingly endless cycle of lockdowns and cautious reopenings. Dr. Fauci stated the following when asked about a coronavirus vaccine, ““Help is on the way, but it’s not here yet,” he said. “To me, that’s more of an incentive of ‘Please don’t give up. Don’t despair. The end is in sight.’””

But there might be a problem, “Denmark revealed it had found a variant of the virus that officials fear could be so disruptive that it justified ordering the extermination of the country’s mink population of 17 million animals.

Concerns were raised over the mutation because it occurred on the virus’s spike protein, which vaccines target.” This virus like many of it’s brethren, like the influenza virus, do mutate over time and thus a vaccine needs to be targeted for a particular mutation. Which changes over time.

Many infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists have come to a different conclusion. Many have signed The Great Barrington Declaration, which states the following, “As immunity builds in the population, the risk of infection to all – including the vulnerable – falls. We know that all populations will eventually reach herd immunity – i.e. the point at which the rate of new infections is stable – and that this can be assisted by (but is not dependent upon) a vaccine. Our goal should therefore be to minimize mortality and social harm until we reach herd immunity.”

I tend to agree the above idea as being more practical than a seemingly endless cycle of lockdown and reopening. Which is leading us towards both a mental and financial collapse.

Dr. Fauci has poo pooed the idea of heard immunity and yet over 12,0000 mental and public health scientists and almost 35,000 medical practitioners disagree. Here is his response, ““That declaration has a couple things in it that I think are fooling people,” Dr. Fauci said in the interview. There’s a hidden implication in there that if we simply let people get infected and only worry about protecting the “vulnerable,” that’s still a huge number of people—and there’s no guarantee that we’d actually be able to protect them.”

I tend to think that Dr. Fauci is only partially correct. We need to somehow protect the vulnerable and move back to a more normal life. This virus is not going away, but if we keep shocking our immune systems with these cycles of lockdown and then opening up our death rates will never go down.

The corinavirus is mutating just as influenza does every year. We must get our immune systems to fight it or we will continue to see deaths due to this virus.

What should we do in the mean time? The American public needs to practice better hygiene, wear a mask when with others and indoors (note: A mask only lessens the transmission rate, it does not prevent spread!), practice social distancing and stay as healthy as we can.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike

The coronavirus is now causing many states/cities to go into lockdown, but I am beginning to think that this may be based on a false premise.
