Unless you have been hiding in a cave somewhere where there is no cell phone signal, you know that the Republicans will control both houses when the next session of congress convenes. And now the President says he will move ahead with immigration reform on his own, the Republicans have threatened to deadlock the government!

I do have to agree that immigration reform is well overdue, though I can not support either the Democratic or Republican position(s). They need to do something and leave the idea of turning those people who came here without permission (undocumented or more commonly called illegal aliens) into legal aliens who can become citizens. This is a purely political move and a grab for votes for the Democratic Party. Both parties assume that whichever one makes a group of illegal aliens legal they will have their vote. What a dumb assumption on their part!

What needs to happen is a better and fairer way to deal with those who want to immigrate to the United States. Those who come without permission should be thrown out of the country at their own expense. The problem is that neither side understands that allowing those who just sneak into the country to stay is wrong under any circumstance(s). All that does is encourage more to do the same. Sorry if you disagree, but our immigration policy is just messed up and letting those who sneak in stay is disrespectful to those who worked through the system.

OK, what do you think should happen mister wise guy? Well for one we need to make a set of rules that are fair for all and yes I realize that it is a very difficult thing to do. Yet, it must be done or we will be overrun with those who just have no idea what it means to respect our way of life. Please remember that we are a nation of immigrants and we do need people(s) coming here legally. For without them we would not have a viable economy.

Unfortunately the Republican right wing (Conservatives) has firm control over the party and all they want to do is cause the President embarrassment. Why do they want this you may ask, well the simple answer is that they are looking ahead to the Presidential election of 2016 and with the control of Congress they are looking to take the Presidency. So in the mean time they will do everything they can to make the Democrats appear to be the party who cannot get anything done without the help of the Republican Party. The Democrats would do the same thing if they were in the position to do so, its politics after all!

In the old days the parties would cooperate on important issues, but now with the polarization of political ideals that does not happen very much. This is very bad for us, the people who elected these stubborn highly political animals. We the ones who elected these politicians to office must remind them who they really work for! After all does not the preamble to the United States Constitution say “We the People…” in much larger letters than the rest of the document? It means we who do the voting are represented by our elected officials in Washington DC, not those voted in are in control of us. So write a letter or email or call your Congressperson/Senator and tell them to stop this stupidity and compromise. For a shutdown of the US Government would hurt us all and must be prevented. And finally your single vote does make a difference! Even if it only helps you in process of figuring out who to vote for plus you become aware of  what is happening all around you.
