Update on Senator Menendez-
Today the Senator is under indictment for corruption and has vehemently denied the charges. He held a press conference on March 31st and kept blaming others for his misconduct. He does have quite a history of political corruption and I am not surprised that it finally caught up with him.
The federal indictment said his friend Doctor Melgen improperly gave Menendez flights on private jets, use of a Caribbean villa, and a lot of money to a legal defense fund.
In return for this patronage the Senator used the power of his office to influence the outcome of Medicare billing disputes worth tens of millions of dollars to Doctor Melgen, the indictment said.
There must be quite a paper trail for all the charges that have been made and yet, today when he was arraigned, Menendez pleaded not guilty. Does he really think that the prosecutors do not have the evidence to convict him? I for one think that he is deluding himself into thinking that he is above the law and no one can touch him.
Menendez has stepped down temporarily from his membership on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee as the senior ranking Democrat. He has not stepped down from being a senator and if convicted he will be forced to do so at that point.
He has been playing political games all his adult life and he now wonders why this has happened to him? I have news for you Mr. Menendez, for some having power can cause you to become corrupt for others they shoulder the responsibility of their office. It seems that you have taken the former path and now you will pay the penalty for what you have done.
Who has suffered more? You senator or the people who you represent? In my opinion it is the people and now they have someone representing them that is under a political and judicial cloud. Please consider your constituents and how well you can represent them while fighting for your freedom.
This not a Democrat or Republican problem, it a matter that should be left for the people to decide via the court system. I for one do not care what you have your political fellows say about how good you are or how you are being picked on by the Obama administration. It is about right and wrong! You best remember that senator.
I talked about his possible problems in early March of this year, “Is it possible that Senator Menendez is in trouble?” And now it seems I was right.
That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
