The President and Donald Trump have created lines that one will not cross and the other dares all to cross. President Obama and the Democrats that agree with him have made that theoretical line in the sand about ISIS (Islamic State). That line is that while they all want to contain ISIS they do not want to put boots on the ground; that is they only want to use airpower only. It is a bogyman to most of the Democrats as their constituents do not understand that by hiding the truth that airpower alone can not stop or even contain ISIS. Only by putting together a coalition of nations with the ability to work together as a cohesive ground force can ISIS truly be destroyed. But, due to the political realities as the President sees them this can never happen for he does not have the vision or the ability to understand the true reality of the situation we are in. This true reality is something that for those who have their collective heads in the sand can never see it as the only way to enable the world to defeat them. President Obama has followers/supporters that are just like the people who were the isolationists of the 1930s. We have become fearful of the casualties that go with having troops battling against a foe toe to toe.
Donald Trump’s line in the sand was crossed the other day by his declaring that all Muslims should be barred from emigrating and/or coming to the United States until such time that our government can figure out how to determine who is coming here is hurt us. To quote Mr. Trump “Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life. If I win the election for President, we are going to Make America Great Again.” I would love to have Mr. Trump point out the poll or polls that show that his claims are true; I for one do not believe that what he is saying is true. While I do have to agree there are Muslims who want to destroy our society and then again there are those who just want to be on parity with the other multitudes of people living here in the United States of America. You can also say there are many of different races and religions that also want to destroy what we have. So what Mr. Trump is espousing is just plain paranoia.
I truly think that Mr. Trump has pulled a Ross Perot, he started to make crazy statements, and damaged his campaign beyond repair; only time will tell. As for the President it is time for the American people to take a good look both inside ourselves and what is happening around us. For if we do not do this and come to realize that by following our President and his followers we will continue to go down the road to defeat and ISIS will win. I for one know that many lives will be lost in the fight against ISIS and its fellows. Let us not forget the mistakes of the past and not let us forget our modern day Pearl Harbor, September 11th! The President’s televised speech of December 6th shows how out of touch this man is with reality, when will the American people make themselves realize we should fight with everything we have against ISIS and its allies before it is too late! We must gather our allies and use the combined forces of the world against these monsters or we will come to regret that we did not when we had the chance to. I do not say this lightly for if we choose to fight many good men and women will die, but if we do not many more will die.
