The State of the State

State of the State

The State of the State was pronounced by Governor Chris Christy this week and his emphasis was on drug addiction. Nothing but lip service to the real problems that the people of this state are suffering from; with all the problems we have Christy picks the one that does so little.

We the people of New Jersey have suffered the fools and spend thrifts of our legislature for far too long. Yes I have heard of some discussion about reforming the property tax system, the pension system and how our monies are spent in general. But, somehow we the people are not being heard by our elected officials. No matter how much we complain they have their own agenda and most of the time it does not mesh with what the people of New Jersey want and need.

I just looked at my local weekly paper and saw that the township I live in has assistants to the assistants for many public positions. What a waste of the public’s money this is! Years ago when I was in the public school system my high school had a principal and a vice principal, now there is a number of vice principals. Why do we even tolerate this wasteful behavior?

In the last election many of you were fooled into voting for a constitutional amendment that said that the collected gas tax money would only be used for fixing our roadway infrastructure; well guess what you were fooled and lied to! You let them open the door to more borrowing and thus even more wasteful unnecessary spending. I tried to warn you, but not enough of you listened, just too bad for the rest of us.

What Christy should have talked about is property tax reform, pension reform, consolidation of government (local, county and state) and addressing the growing cost of auto insurance. But no, he took the safe route and talked about drug addiction. So many words came out of his mouth and yet nothing to help the people of New Jersey cope with the ever growing high costs of living here in New Jersey.

It is the fault of not only the politicians, but us also. We must share the blame by idling standing by and letting them get away with not addressing the true issues that are slowly choking the life out of this state.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
