This is a personal blog update, in my new home now and it is a one bedroom ground floor condo. I slept for the first time in my new home last Thursday and slept well!
I used the proceeds from the sale of the house to buy the condo; I knew that I could not afford anything very big or a house and so I aimed for something realistic. This condo is a little on the expensive side, but it does have new flooring, a new kitchen with appliances plus a stacked washer/dryer. The gas fired heater is a little dated and I had to replace the water heater due to a bacterial infection which caused the water to turn black and smell like rotten eggs.
My plumber was nice enough to fit me into his busy schedule and first diagnose the problem with the water heater and then replace it quickly so I could move in with only a two day delay. This man is knowledgeable and makes sure to not mess up your home; I have highly recommended him to several people and know of others that use him.
The only other problems I have had are with the washer water connections not being turned on and the dishwasher did not have its’ power connections made plus it is not mounted in place. My plumber fixed the first two problems and I will have to have someone come in to affix the dishwasher to the counter so that it cannot move. The dishwasher does operate fine, but it is a little hard to get the door closed properly so that it will run. While annoying it is not a major problem.
I got a letter from the bank about the tax lien on the house I sold giving me sixty days notice to pay up or be foreclosed upon. I guess that whoever or whatever generated that notice did not understand that the lien had already been paid off when the house was sold in the beginning of this year.
Moving was no fun as I did not get anyone to come help me before the move to pack things other than one friend who helped me move some items to the condo. I do have to note that two people did volunteer, but the day they were to come the Nor’easter came to visit and did make it a little dangerous to be out and about. The other person made a simple mistake on what day to come and did come after moving day to pack and move some dishes that were not ready to be moved by the movers.
The movers I used were highly recommended and did do the job cheaply. But alas they broke a leg off the couch and a tea cart. I would not recommend them to anyone, unless they want things to be broken!
The people I have been meeting at my new home have been friendly and welcoming. It is a big relief that I do not have the tax lien hanging over my head anymore!
