Less patience

Cars surrender to the snow

I am noticing more and more that people here in New Jersey are becoming less patience. For example the other day I was at a traffic light waiting to make a right turn when I heard a driver behind me honk their horn. The other reason I thought of writing on this subject is because of today’s snow storm and the delays and/or cancellations it caused.

There was no way I could go as cars were coming and yet this idiot somehow thinks that I can just push my way into oncoming traffic. Also I have encountered others that think they have the right to go to the front of a line just because they are running late.

Is this because there are more ex-New Yorkers now living here or is there some other reason. Well according to an article in the Daily Mail those coming from New York rank as the fourth most inpatient here in the United States. Maybe that explains why people are more impatient now than just a decade ago.

An article in Psychology Today examines the causes of impatience and it is very enlightening one of the things seems to be that when we set goals and timelines to meet those goals, and we encounter delays or roadblocks impatience is the result for many.

What is also very interesting is how religious we are makes one less impatient. Maybe it is because when we are more religious our humanity is enhanced and that makes us more understanding. Thus, causing us to be more tolerant of delays and being unable to complete tasks on schedule.

I am now going to close on the following note; we all have to be more understanding and realize that by becoming impatient we become our own problem which we then think that others are the causation of. Take some of your precious time and think about how you treat others in relation to how you go through your daily tasks. Try to learn that the world is not ending if you are thrown off schedule by things that you can not control.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
