Poisoning

Russia

By now you might of heard about the poisoning of an ex-Russian spy and his daughter. Well the British have documented the facts and they are that the poison used had to come from Russia (the government) itself.

With that fact established diplomats have been expelled across Europe and even from the United States. Per the New York Times, “President Trump ordered the expulsion of 60 Russian officials on Monday, joining a coordinated campaign by two dozen countries to retaliate for the poisoning of a former Russian spy in Britain in a Cold War-style escalation that again highlighted the disparity between the president’s words and actions.”

Furthermore, “In approving the expulsions and ordering the closure of the Russian Consulate in Seattle, Mr. Trump followed the lead of Prime Minister Theresa May of Britain, who rallied a multinational coalition to respond to the poisoning. With London pressing for action, Mr. Trump called foreign counterparts to see if they would join, too. Aides said he encouraged them to take part, but he also knew that failure to go along would have left the United States isolated.

In addition to the United States, at least 22 other nations backed Britain by expelling about 57 more Russian diplomats and intelligence officers as of Monday evening, including France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Poland and Canada. Mrs. May originally expelled 23 Russians shortly after British authorities determined that Moscow was likely responsible for the nerve agent that left Sergei V. Skripal, the former Russian spy, and his daughter in a coma.”

So the proverbial ‘human waste’ has hit the fan and now we are going to have to wait to see how this will escalate. And yes it will do so, you can count on it. Putin will not back down and I can not see Theresa May’s government retracting it claim that the Russian government is behind the poisonings. This can become a very big problem both diplomatically and politically.

On the diplomatic front it could end up with most of the Russian diplomats that are really spies being kicked out all over Europe and the United States with the Russians doing the same. OK, so that might not be the worst thing to happen, but then we may have a intelligence gap due to not have human being in-country. And that is could be very bad, for without proper intelligence we can not really know what is happening and how the Russian government might react to any military or political moves that we or our allies make.

Could we go to war over this, I hope not! I do know that things are going to be very strained between the Russians and us and our allies for a long time. Cooperation that now exists about Syria and other hot spots in the world may soon disappear. This would be bad and I am looking over the horizon for someone who has the diplomatic skills to defuse this situation.

Anyone who can defuse what is happening please get to work!

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
