US Embassy in Jerusalem

US embassy Jerusalem

Since President Trump moved the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem the Palestinians have been protesting the move. They claim that East Jerusalem is part of their Palestinian state.

Per an article in National Review, “Hamas has goaded rioters to storm the Israeli border, defended by Israeli soldiers who fire on them if necessary to protect local communities (more than 50 were killed on Monday). This isn’t “the caravan” that arrived at the U.S. border with peaceful migrants seeking asylum, but a violent provocation that is a function of Hamas’s commitment to Israel’s destruction.” While the people in the West Bank has been relatively quiet and no real protests are taking place there.

Israel was until this May, the only state not to have a US embassy in the country’s capital city. Of course most other countries do not have their embassy in Jerusalem, as they do not want to either offend the Arab (Palestinian) supporters or the left wing politicos.

What has been so crazy about all of this is that there has not been a reason that the United States should have not had the embassy in Israel’s capital city, other than the fact that the Palestinians and their supporters claim it as the capital of a Palestinian state.

The problem with the Palestinian claim is that Israel retook the eastern part of Jerusalem during the ‘Six- Day war‘ of 1967. So it does legally belong to Israel and not to a Palestinian state.

The claim of Hamas is not just not valid and they know it. They just want to see the destruction of the only Jewish state on the face of this planet. Do not think that Hamas or Iran want to see Israel continue to survive.

So the protestations of some terrorist agents should be ignored and the rest of the world needs to recognize the fact that they should move their embassies to Jerusalem too.

Please remember this fact if nothing else, Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East! No other one exists in that region. So it has always behooved the United States to support Israel.

Maybe some time in the hopefully near future Hamas will be thrown out of Gaza and the Palestinian people will then realize that it is time to negotiate with Israel in good faith to find a way that all parties can live in peace with one another.

In the mean time the idea of not having the embassies of other countries in Jerusalem is just ignoring the reality that it is the capital of Israel.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
