My Observations

Coronavirus

Just some observations from my time in the eye doctor’s offices and about Covid-19 precautions taken there.

One of the first things that you find even before entering a doctor’s office are signs telling you to wear a mask and other reminders. Such as keeping your distance from another person, etc.

I went to offices in New Jersey and one in Pennsylvania just a short distance from Philadelphia. In all cases Covid-19 precautions were being practiced by the majority of the people there. I did notice that a lot of people have no idea on how to properly wear a mask and the fact that they should not keep touching the outside of the mask. Many did take advantage of the hand sanitizer, which is fine. But too many let the mask slip off their nose and sometimes it fell off their face.

Too many times I saw parents with small children not making sure that their little ones were keeping their mask on (properly). And as for social distancing there was little of that when sitting in the waiting area. If there was more than four feet between two people that was the best you could have. The office staff did tell some people to wait outside till they called them on their cells phones to come in to prevent crowding.

One of the things you find still is the fact that many think that the mask is like armor, that is protects all of the those wearing them. They have been brainwashed by our government into thinking that masks are the ultimate protection against Covid-19. When in fact it is a combination of proper hygiene, social distancing and wearing a mask (at least indoors).

The big problem is the basic fact that people do not know how to wear a mask properly. Leaving your nose exposed is a big no no! In fact not adjusting the wire in the mask where your nose is so that it allows the mask conform to your face is a major problem for far too many people. If air can leak in or out, so can Covid-19!

I did not see signs of people telling others that their masks were not put on correctly nor did I find the staff of these doctor’s offices failing to check people’s temperature. When I filled out the required forms, among them was a page asking Covid-19 questions.

Overall I find that mask wearing is an overblown affair. With social distancing and proper hygiene being far more important.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike

PS I would like to that Gary B. for loaning me a desktop system with a 19” screen. My laptop is only about 15” and the larger screen makes a big difference for me right now as I still have floaters in my left eye after the retina tear was repaired last Wednesday. Also I would like to thank Gordon H. and his lovely wife Meryl for all their assistance, it is deeply appreciated.
