We can not afford to repeat the mistakes of the past!

[symple_spacing size=”80″]We can not repeat the mistakes of the past, for if we did not learn the lessons of history in school then we are doomed to repeat them with the consequences possibly be horrendous.  Never mind what the national polices are and how they are being implemented right now, we must face facts- Russia has become a great danger to the world and in the Middle East the terrorist groups like ISIS, al Qaeda, Hizbullah, and many others are very scary danger to all of us.

You can be an Isolationist and say what has this to do with the United States? Leave it to the United Nations to deal with them or NATO in the case of Russia invading Ukraine. Well you may have to be reminded of what happened in the years before World War II. Adolf Hitler and the Nazis came to power. Does that sound familiar? It should, Putin and his ethnic Russian terrorists use that claim to make the eastern part of Ukraine part of Russia again.  Putin has raised the specter of Hitler like behavior by the government of Ukraine, boy is that again reminds me of Hitlers propaganda minister – Goebbels. Goebbels was a lair from the beginning and used it as a weapon.  Putin likes to be the bully and is using the veiled threat to use nuclear weapons.

The terrorist groups in the Middle East are religious fanatics who will stop at nothing to meet their goal of establishing Islamic States and Sharia Law everywhere in the world.  They remind me of the fanaticism of the Japanese in the years leading up to and during World War II.  Does no one see that they will not stop until they rule the world?

There are so many parallels that can be found between the years just before World War II and now that it is not funny.  There is a quote “Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.”  Paraphrased from a quote by George Santayana.  Must we again make the same mistakes that Roosevelt, Chamberlain and Édouard Daladier made.  Appeasement, the use of sanctions, and other hollow meaning words without concrete action.  They had the League of Nations and today we have the United Nations (UN), this time with the United States being a member.  But, the UN has shown itself to be ineffective and almost useless in the Ukraine crisis.

Our president, Barack Obama, has pursued a policy of often using conflicting and confusing policies with little to no concrete action.  The time to act is now with succinct well thought out policies and actions, before it is too late!

Now is not the time to be an Isolationist, they lead us into actions that caused a war we were not really ready for and if Roosevelt had not been influenced by them their might not have been a war with Japan.  Yes, there is a time to fight and a time for peace.  But, we must always be ready to back up the peace with military preparedness.  I am not saying in any way we have to fight every time, but that by being prepared we might actually avoid a military solution.

This being the Labor Day Holiday Weekend I would just like to say this – Show the proper respect to those workers who are the backbone of this country – the American Blue Collar worker.

This is my opinion – Jumpin Jersey Mike
