Well would you believe that this weeks the big issue is what should be New Jersey’s official song(s)!

They are at it again, wasting our money on a non-issue, what the @!?@ do they think is so important about picking an official song(s)? I can not think of a less important issue to be debating or even entertaining any thoughts about when we have much more weighty issues to deal with.

Our Transportation Trust fund is going broke, we need to address the problem(s) of oppressive property taxes and how about looking into encouraging more businesses to move into New Jersey. New York state seems to have such a plan in affect, so what is stopping this state with its even better location from doing the same.

The Governor has done some work in getting businesses to come to our state, but the legislature has not been helping to any great extent. Plus, while we have a 2% property tax cap we need to roll back the way too high tax rate that is crushing everyone who owns property in this state. We are saddled with lawmakers who have dollar bills in their eyes and do not realize that we the people are not some bottomless piggy bank that they can continue to tap in ever larger amounts forever. At some point people will run out of money to pay this oppressive tax and either leave the state or sell their property and rent instead of own.
Is the American dream dead or dying in New Jersey? It seems so to me and I do not like what is happening one bit!

How about the wasteful bills they propose, such as free versions of college books. That is a violation of federal copyright law, the author has rights and one of them is to make money from the fruits of their labor. This proposed bill, A2809, is some pipe dream bit of legislation without regard to the rights of those who have the right to expect free and unencumbered sales of their books. The idea of an open educational resource is a big lie; the writing of a book takes years of work and research. It has costs associated with it no matter who publishes it, whether electronically or in print form. Who would pay for this, well I have the feeling we the public would. Are we some giant piggy bank?

While I agree that the cost of college textbooks is outrageous, we the public can not and should not shoulder the burden of the expenses associated with creating and publishing such texts.

The undeniable truth is that the New Jersey legislature can not or will not control how they wastefully spend the taxpayer’s monies, then what are we to do? I can only say complain to your legislatures, write publicly about your concerns and vote by taking into consideration of all the facts about that particular candidate not just the party they are from. Whether they are Democrat or Republican, Right Wing, Left Wing or in the Middle politically should not be the primary reason to vote for them. Find out what they stand for and how they will deal with the out of control spending that our government is doing.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. Those who think before they vote have power, while those who vote by Party have little to no power in how your government is run. And if you think your vote will not change anything; well you are a fool to think that! Voting is a privilege that should be cherished for it is you the voter that has a say in how we are governed.
