Chris Christie and the Impossible Dream

Christie for President?
Christie for President?

Chris Christie’s unofficial march toward occupying the White House seemed like an almost impossible dream when Bridgegate poked its ugly head into the news headlines. Now Governor Brendan Burn says “Last year there was a lot of trouble for Christie — he had Bridgegate and people were wondering about indictments. This year he’s golden. He no longer has any shadows over him. He looks good.” at the Mayor’s Conference in Atlantic City. It is no secret that Christie wants to run for President, the question is really if it is realistic for him to do so. After all he is a left wing conservative politician in a far right wing dominated party.

Just as an aside, maybe you should sing to yourself the song – “To Dream the Impossible Dream” while reading or just take a look at my musical tribute at the end of this blog. Whatever you do just do not fall down, after all I am not responsible for what your funny bone causes you to do!

And if he does run will he quit being New Jersey’s Governor or will he stay in office juggling the responsibilities of being Governor verses the logistics of running for President? I see a quandary of possible problems in either case.

If he announces that his hat is in the ring for President, then he has to decide if he should resign as governor or stay in office. It would be easier if he left office than if he stayed and would he be able to properly do his job? I will not get into the legalities, which frankly might bore you to death, but I will just say this – Chris either run for President or be our Governor, do not try to do both! Splitting your concentration could cause problems and we the people of New Jersey need a governor that keeps his focus on solving the myriad of issues that need attention.

OK, now to the fun part –

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the Democrat Party foe
To go fight the fight for Presidency
To run where the timid dare not go
To fix the unfixable
To love politics and roar from afar
To try when your voice is too weary shout
To reach the unreachable office
This is Christie’s quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far
To fight for the far right wing
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into a high political office
For a unheavenly cause
And I know if I’ll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I’m in that political office
And the world will be better for me
That one man, scorned and yet covered with accolades
Still strove with his last ounce of political moxy
To reach the unreachable office

My apologies to Mr. Joe Darion and of course Governor Chris Christie

Update:

The dream is over and now it is Donald Trump’s turn.

That is my opinion – Jumpin Jersey Mike
