Rand Paul is a doctor and United States Senator from Kentucky. The first words you see on his official campaign website is the heading “Defeat the Washington Machine” and then the quote “I want to unleash the American Dream. I will return our country to freedom and prosperity, and restore the principles upon which this nation was founded: man’s right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
When you look further down you will encounter the following, “I honestly have no idea what Mr. Trump’s real philosophy is. He was liberal before he was conservative, and has openly professed for decades that his views are those of a Democrat.” That came under the heading “Don’t Fall for a Fake Conservative.” It is clear that all Senator Paul can do is attack Donald Trump to direct attention to his campaign.
He discussed his economic philosophy while on Fox News Sunday, “The thing is, income inequality is due to some people working harder and selling more things. If people voluntarily buy more of your stuff, you’ll have more money.” His views on how economic theory versus the real world are a bit simplistic to say the least. Sometimes when you work harder you do not always make more money!
Also on the same show he talked about a “”flat and fair tax,” which would put a flat 14.5 percent tax on all types of income. An analysis by the Tax Foundation found that under the plan, households earning more than $1 million per year would see their after-tax incomes rise by 13 percent. Households earning between $50,000 and $75,000 per year, meanwhile, would see their after-tax income rise only by 3 percent.” How is this fair when it lets the well off keep more than the moderate income worker? Senator Paul wants to isolate the United States from the rest of the world, the last time this happened a World War (II) broke out and we were dragged into it! At that time we had only a very small Army and Navy with little training or equipment. But for the delaying actions in the Philippines by those brave soldiers fighting off the soldiers of Japan we would have had not avoided massive damage being inflected on Hawaii. Somehow the Senator has not learned the lessons of what caused World War II. Maybe he should read Winston Churchill’s World War II Collection and while he is at it pick up a book on economics paying attention to the pages on the Law of Supply and Demand.
Also on his campaign page is the statement that says, “Amid a flagging campaign, the Kentucky senator tussled with Trump and confronted Christie on the candidates’ biggest stage so far.” Again this candidate is making a molehill into a mountain. He attacked Trump and did the same with Christie. Just as a side note Christie brushed off his comments with political aplomb, making the Senator look like a fool.
In conclusion this candidate does not really merit much public attention; at least he does offer some entertainment as does Trump. He should be marginalized for his way out opinions and attacks.
