Are the police to blame? It seems that a lot of people blame the police for the situation(s) where they have become the target of assassination. Within the time period of less than a month police officers in Dallas Texas and in Baton Rouge Louisiana were attacked with deadly results, too many were killed for such stupid reasoning.

Yes I know that like any profession there are bad police officers and yet people forget that the good ones far outnumber the bad. It is very easy to say that all police departments are composed of a great number of bad apples; well that is not true at all. The vast majority of officers are well trained and treat the public with the respect we deserve.

Some blame the Black Lives Matter movement and I think that they do have to shoulder some of the fault for what has happened. But, they can not be held accountable in causing these senseless acts of murder. Society itself has a lot to do with what is happening and there needs to be a major set of corrections on how people are thought of and treated.

I know that I do not have all the answers and no one person or group knows solutions either. Yet we as a people have to stop this hatred and strife from destroying us and separating us into separate camps; those who can not see that things need to change and those who see that something has to be done. Also there are those who think that all people of their particular race or religion are being picked on because they are of that group.

Now is the time to be introspective and really dig deep down deep to see the good in people instead of just seeing what race or religion they are. Too often we are more comfortable with those of our own type and distrustful of those who differ from us. It is time to look past the superficial and get to know people before passing judgment. This goes both for the police and civilian populations; no one person can fix everything and we must thus gather together for greater understanding.

If you do nothing else, be respectful of those you do not know and even better be friendly towards everyone. Remember that it is easier to smile and be polite rather than being nasty and disrespectful. Look at the leaders of yesteryear, such as Dr. Martian Luther King Jr, John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln and others who you look up to for inspiration. Now is the time to come together, it is not to time to let society disintegrate into separate distrustful armed camps.
