Justice is blind!

Carlo Bellario

“Justice is blind” it says on many statues standing before courthouses throughout the United States. Yet it seems that it can be both blind and very stupid here in the gun fearing State of New Jersey! Actor/Comedian Carlo Bellario was arrested last year for being caught having an air soft gun in his possession in Woodbridge while acting in a movie.

Bellario was working for an independent film company who did not tell him they did not have the proper permits. The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office decided to prosecute only Bellario and not the production company, as he was only doing what was told to do and was not responsible for actions of the production company he should have never even been charged! Why the prosecutor did not charge any of the company’s officers is a mystery to me? Common sense was not in use at the time of the charges being written up.

The State of New Jersey defines all non powder based guns as firearms, thus requiring that you have a permit to carry them. There has been some movement by some of New Jersey’s politicians to change these extremely strict set of gun statutes to be more inline with common sense and not be as stupid as they are now. For instance if you have a gun in the passenger compartment of your car while traveling to or from the gun range, then you are in violation of New Jersey’s overly strict gun laws. You instead need to have the gun in the trunk and the ammunition in a locked box. Plus you can not make a stop of any kind between the range and your home or you could find yourself under arrest.

It is just crazy that air soft guns, they use air to propel a plastic pellet instead of gun powder, are classified as a firearm. The federal government does not, so why does our state do so? In my opinion it is because of being left of the liberals and no common sense is being used in crafting these dumb laws.

On July 20th Bellario accepted a plea deal to prevent him from serving a very long prison sentence; with this deal he will be on probation instead. I hope that Governor Christie will pardon him as this whole episode is just one messed up instance of injustice.

Again this state shows how messed up it is and we are shown as a bunch of gun fearing citizens who do not want our laws to make sense. Common sense does not seem to be something that many of our lawmakers have; otherwise they would have never crafted such junk filled laws. Our lawmakers have to go back to the proverbial drawing board and rewrite these draconian laws, using some common sense and not be afraid to offend the anti-gun lobby.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
