It is hot as hell!

Hot Dog!

“It is hot as hell and I can’t take it anymore” would be a good slogan for the weather we have been experiencing these past few weeks. Somehow it feels hotter each Summer and there seems to be almost no Spring.

Could we here in New Jersey be experiencing Climate Change (Global Warming) or is just that as I get older I am remembering less and less? If it is the latter, boy oh boy my memory is getting really bad and if it is the former then will the ocean rise eventually with the result of almost all of New Jersey will be underwater.

Well I have to tell you that I am not the only one observing the fact that the average temperature here in the Garden State has risen above 90 degrees for more days each year. Scientists have actually seen climate change at work and predict in the years to come that things will only get worse unless we change our pollution making habits.

I for one drive only when I have to and walk to local stores to both save money plus lessen the amount of pollution that is loosened into the local environment. After all I can remember how bad things were in the 1960s before we humans started to cleanup our surroundings. Gone are the days of open dumping of car batteries, dangerous chemicals and other seemingly ephemeral materials. The latter being the most dangerous because we did not really understand the dangers of asbestos, benzene and other dangerous manmade products.

You only have to look around your area and you will more than likely find a capped Superfund site or an old dump. We as a people have the responsibility of maintaining our environs and not just think that we don’t affect the world around us. I do not know if we are causing Climate Change or it is just some cycle that the Earth is going through.

Whichever is the true cause of it getting hotter in the Summer and colder in the Winter it is very noticeable to me and many others. Can we change what is happening is something that can be debated until we all get hoarse. We are the custodians of our planet and therefore must find better ways to not pollute our world.

Don’t get me wrong and think of me as a tree hugger or some environmental nutcase, but it just seems to me that by doing positive instead of doing nothing we each can make this a better world for all of us. So let each of you try to be less polluting and be friendlier towards the world we live on. Remember we can not leave this planet and go to another, so cleanup your act now!

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike

P.S. Will somebody turn down the outdoor thermostat! Please!!!
