“I’m mad as Hell and I’m not going to take this anymore!” Yes it is the famous line from a movie (Network). Well it is about time for New Jerseyans to get off your butts and start yelling “I’m fed up and I’m not going to take this anymore!”
We pay outrageous taxes for the privilege of living here in the Garden State and the legislature doesn’t understand that they are taxing us to death. People are leaving because of this and so are businesses. When new companies look around the region they avoid New Jersey because of the high taxes and the unfriendly business climate.
At one time there was a group of intrepid people who fought the good fight and did make some difference, Hands Across New Jersey was the name of the group, but they faded away back in the Winter of 1991 because of internal strife.
Now I think it is time to once again gather our wits and band together against the politicians and the unions to save our once great state! Or if we do nothing our tax and spend politicians will eventually bankrupt this state; and yes I know that legally the state can not declare chapter 7 or 11.
As Thomas Paine stated in a pamphlet during the American Revolution, “These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.” Today the parallel here in New Jersey is the politician(s) looking out for themselves and the citizens of this state who stand by doing nothing to stop them. As Paine said we must not shrink from the service to this state we live in during this crisis of over taxation without proper representation.
I call upon you the citizens of New Jersey to get off your proverbial butts and form a new organization to make the common citizens voice count for something. To have the influence to make the politicians quake in their boots and be a force for the good of the tax paying people of this great state.
While I will continue here on my blog to expound upon the unfairness of our system of taxation and how we the people of this state are not being represented by the people who we elect, I alas do not feel it is within me to head or form such an organization. There must be some persons within this state up to doing this important task.
What I will do is let those who feel that they have the passion, knowledge and political acumen pickup the baton. And to that end I will host guest editorials (blog postings) on this site from those who do form such an organization. Plus I will lend them any technical knowledge I might have to enable the word to be sent forth.
So let the games begin. And may we the people of New Jersey be the winners!
