With the June Primary coming up fast I am going to take a look at the political television/radio ads. Phil Murphy, Jim Johnson, John Wisniewski, Kim Guadagno and Jack Ciattarelli all have created ads that attack one of the other candidates in their primary.
Phil Murphy talks about as a boy being cheated out of his paycheck and his father getting the money for him and how he can be a good Governor of New Jersey. He also has one where he links the President, Trump, to the Republican candidates. I think that this is unfair and it likens linking Obama to Murphy, which in reality has nothing to do with Murphy’s abilities to politically wheel and deal.
Johnson and Wisniewski both just want to grab the voting public’s attention, something they need to desperately do in order to get people to find out what they are all about because few voters know who and what they stand for. Both of them are long shots in this primary and are going to have a very steep public education hill to climb to get the voting public to even know who they are.
Guadagno, the Lieutenant Governor, has a different problem and that is a very big one. She has to disassociate herself from Christie; if she can not get out from under his political shadow then she can not be a viable contender. She has attacked Ciattarelli as being a Republican in Democrats clothing, claiming he wants higher taxes and has many of the same goals as the Democratic candidates do.
Ciattarelli has the dual problem of getting himself politically recognized and fighting off the accusations made by Guadagno. The one thing that stands out is that he is not a sheep that tows the Republican political line, but a man that thinks for himself, something that is a big plus in my humble opinion. His ads are focused at telling his story and yet he is trying to point out the faults of both Murphy and Guadagno. This is a bit of a problem for him as he is not only fighting his Republican Primary opponent, but at the same time he is also defending himself from political shots from Murphy. I must point out that while Murphy has never served in an elected political office, Ciattarelli has and he has the business expertise that Murphy has.
To see these ads, go to YouTube and search under the name of the candidate. I am not going to give a link as they seem to change and/or disappear.
That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
