Today is Thanksgiving and I thought that maybe it is a good time to talk about you the reader thinking about what you are thankful for.

Here in New Jersey maybe you are grateful that Governor Chris Christie only has a short time left as governor or are glad that Phil Murphy will be our next governor. Or you are just happy to be alive, in good health, are with the one you love and that you have the money to have a place to live and food to eat.

Others may be thankful for the generosity of fellow human beings in giving you a helping hand when you needed it. Some find solace in the fact that the world has not ended or that things are not as bad as they thought they might be.

Whatever you are thankful for this Thanksgiving may it manifest itself in a giving spirit, so that other may be given the hand up that they need and please continue to do this year round not just this holiday season.

Unfortunately we the citizens of the greatest nation on the face of the Earth tend to blot out what we see around us whenever it disturbs or troubles us. Thus we only tend to be more generous during this holiday season instead of year round. Poverty, disaster and just plain bad luck do not just happen during a certain time of year, but all 365 days of the year.

So it is my hope that as you sit down to your Thanksgiving dinner or when you are watching the sport of your choice on the television, that you think about others that may truly some need help in your community and take the time to find a way to help them.’

I know that this sounds like some religious sermon that you hear when you attend religious services, but if it only makes a handful of you here in New Jersey reach out to help those who truly need help then writing this blog has not been a waste of my time.

May you and yours enjoy this holiday season, no matter what you believe in. We all must work together to better this state we live in so get out there and do it!
