A raspberry for ‘Political Correctness’

Bronx Cheer

A raspberry (or a Bronx Cheer) for ‘Political Correctness’ is in order to Governor Murphy and the rest of the far Left Progressives.

Yesterday two radio hosts, Dennis and Judi on 101.5, called the Attorney General “turban man” because of his call for suspension of marijuana offenses by municipal prosecutors. The Attorney General is a Sikh and thus does wear a turban as part of his religious belief.

Per Philly.com Dennis Malloy made the following comments, “Malloy said he couldn’t remember Grewal’s name, telling Franco that “I’m just going to say the guy with the turban.” The duo continued to refer to Grewal as “Turban Man” throughout the segment, and even acknowledged they knew the term could be considered offensive.” Yes, I can see how it can be taken as being anti-Sikh and should not have been used by this radio duo. But according to our Constitution they have the right of free speech and listening to what they said in the context of their radio show it is not as bad as it seems.

The big problem here is that Governor Murphy used his high office to silence these two. Murphy called the “comments “abhorrent and xenophobic,” and called on management at the station to “hold the hosts accountable for these intolerant and racist comments.”” In reality they were in very poor taste and done as way of making fun of the Attorney General for how he has acted in office.

I still remember just after “9/11” how I inquired about how people were treating a Sikh man at a local gas station that I was friendly with. At that time many people did not distinguish the difference between a Muslin and a Sikh. Unfortunately many do not even try to show the proper respect to those who dress differently from a typical American, so the Attorney General is a target because of this.

But taking in all the facts, as they have been reported so far, the Governor’s comments are inappropriate and reaction of people due to ‘Political Correctness’ were totally blown out of all proportion to what was said.

I am not a fan of the ‘Dennis and Judi’ show, but I have listened to it from time to time. They both have stretched the boundaries of good taste daily on their show. Should the Governor and the Attorney General get all upset about what they said, in my opinion the answer is a big No!

The other day I saw on a website where neighbors ask for help and opinions the following in response to a question on finding a good local preschool for her kid- “Please do not call your child a kid, he or she is too nice to be called that, Kid is another name for goat so PLEASE DON’T SUBJECT HIM OR HER TO THAT .” That is ‘Political Correctness’ at its worst, that person has no idea that their response is just nonsense and quite silly.

Thus I think that that ‘Dennis and Judi’ were trying to be silly and not racist, but the far Left has left reality behind and gone off on a campaign of nonsensical reactions to two people on the radio just trying to make fun of the world in general.

And in closing if you like you can call me the ‘Man with the big hat.’

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
