Trump and tweeting

Should President Trump stop Tweeting?

President Obama used a Blackberry modified to make it just about unhackable and those who has his presidential email address were very limited. Per NBC News, “Initially, it seemed, the president was going to give up the device once he took office because of security and legal issues. Presidential e-mails also can be subpoenaed.

Former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton did not use e-mail while in office. Before taking office for his first term, Bush e-mailed friends and relatives about why he would no longer be using electronic mail.

“Since I do not want my private conversations looked at by those out to embarrass, the only course of action is not to correspond in cyberspace,” he wrote to them.”

So why does our current President not stop tweeting? That has an easy answer! Since he does not trust the media to get his thoughts and ideas to the American public, the only way he is sure that they do is by tweeting on Twitter.

Per Fortune, “A West Wing official told the publication that regular swaps are not needed “because of the security controls of the Twitter phone and the Twitter account,” adding: “Due to inherent capabilities and advancement in technologies, these devices are more secure than any Obama-era devices.”

Almost every national security official polled by Politico said phones remain vulnerable to hacking and surveillance. “It’s baffling that Trump isn’t taking baseline cybersecurity measures at a time when he is trying to negotiate his way out of a trade war with China, a country that is known for using cyber tactics to gain the upper hand in business negotiations,” said Samm Sacks of the Center for Strategic and International Studies.”

So maybe no matter how safe a cell phone can be made, it might be a good idea to stop tweeting from one Mister President. Maybe you should get a secure laptop or tablet instead.

I must say that may get some upset with all the tweets that President Trump has done since being elected and I agree that he does not seem to be able to filter himself. The facts are that while Trump continues to feel that he must put himself out there directly to the people, he must learn that these very tweets can and have backfired on him.

My opinion is that what Trump is doing is something that any President following him will have to do to keep the American public engaged.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
