Dogs and Cats

Pet abandonment

I wonder why so many dogs and cats are literally being discarded without much thought at all?

There are too many that are just bought as a pup or kitten and then without much thought are just thrown out just like so much trash because it takes more work than their humans thought.

Per Aidanimals, “It happens because people keep breeding more pets for profit, and other people reward them for this by paying them for these pets (instead of saving an innocent pet from death by adopting), and too many people abandon pets when they become an inconvenience.” Has our society developed such a throwaway mindset that these pets are not thought of as living, breathing beings. No they are not just like humans, but they do deserve to be with people who will care for and love them.

Furthermore the website goes on to say, “If most people adopted dogs instead of buying them, hardly anyone would breed dogs because the demand wouldn’t be there. Eventually, no innocent, adoptable dogs would die. Nobody wants to admit responsibility and wants to pass the blame. The reality is that everyone who buys, breeds or abandons dogs while there are so many being put to death, has to take responsibility.

Maybe it is time for some kind of course that you would have to take to adopt a pet or even buy one. At least then you would get some idea of how much work and time is involved in having a pet.

Most people who have never had a pet dog or cat do not seem to understand the responsibility that they are taking on, nor do they think about the costs involved in taking the proper care of their pets. It costs money to feed them, bathe them and take to the vet to prevent them from getting sick.

I do hope that you now realize that there is much more in having a dog or cat than you thought and it is also important to neuter or spay them to prevent the accidental procreation that takes place much too often. Also you are saving them from getting cancer of their reproductive parts.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
