Senator Cory Booker defies

Cory Booker

Senator Cory Booker has defied Senate rules by releasing documents pertaining to Judge Kavanaugh’s record deemed “confidential” by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The committee rule reads as follows, “Any Senator of employee of the Senate who shall disclose the secret or confidential business or proceedings of the Senate, including the business of the committees, subcommittees and offices of the Senate, shall be liable if a Senator – to suffer expulsion from the body.” In other words he could be expelled from the Senate for releasing “confidential” documents if the Senate Republicans go after him.

Here is where you can read what Senator Booker has released. Read them for yourselves and then you will see what Booker is talking about.

My problem with what Booker has done is the fact that he has broken committee rules for what seems more of a political piece of grandstanding in his pre-campaigning for President. In other words Booker will do just about anything to bring attention to himself to become President.

Booker said to his foes, “Bring the charges, go through the Senate process to take on somebody you said is unbecoming to be a Senator. Let’s go through that process because I think the public should understand that at a moment someone is up for a lifetime appointment…I hope they’ll follow through.” Also he followed up by saying, “I’m ready to accept the full responsibility for what I have done, the consequences for what I’ve done, and I stand by the public’s right to have access to this document.

He also referred to himself as Spartacus. Spartacus lead slave revolt against the Romans back in 77 BCE. He lost in the end and was killed.

Per CBS News, “According to the U.S Senate, since 1789 the body has expelled 15 members. Of that 15, 14 were charged with supporting the Confederacy during the Civil War — a vastly different charge than what Booker faces.

In other cases, the Senate merely considered expulsion proceedings but either found the given member not guilty or failed to act before that member left office. In those cases, the Senate notes, corruption was the main cause for the expulsion complaint.

The Senate could, however, move to impose a less severe form of punishment known as “censure.” A censure doesn’t remove a senator from office but the official statement of admonishment or disapproval can have equal lasting damage to an outright expulsion. The Senate has censured only nine members.”

I can not see the senator being expelled, unless there is a big push by the Republicans to oust him. More likely is that Senator Booker will be censured.

Remember that those who live by the pen can also be destroyed by the pen!

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
