Free internet video sites are today’s subject. Are you fed up with what you can get on your television? Would you like to watch videos/shows/movies for free? Then you are reading the right blog! There are plenty of places to watch videos on the internet and that is what I will be talking about.
What is the most used internet place to watch videos? YouTube of course! So I will start there.
YouTube has been around for a long time now and it is mostly free to watch. There are commercials and I will tell you a secret on how to avoid them later on. You do not need to have a Google account to use YouTube, but it is a good idea to have one. By having one you can build up a library of your favorite channels to watch. Also this allows you to subscribe to a channel, get a reminder that something new is available on your subscribed channel(s) and to leave comments about the video. So it is more of an advantage to have a Google account than to not have one.
So lets start by typing in the search box- www.youtube.com and hit enter. What you should see is this:
Notice that if you are not signed in you will be asked to, far upper right corner. On this example I am signed in. Immediately you should notice a column on the left headed by Home. Under which is your subscriptions, about two thirds of the way down. Selecting one of these takes you to that channel.
Now looking near the top of the page there is YouTube’s search box. Just type in a subject you are interested in and it will show you a selection of videos on that topic. I hope that you noticed just below that there is line that starts with All inside a oval. These are the subjects that you have shown interest in, that is if you have signed in of course.
Below is suggested videos you might have interest in and further down is ‘Breaking News’ videos.
I won’t go into the different ways you can have the video play. But instead I will talk about a very handy little extension for you browser named YouTube for Enhancer which has a very nice feature that lets you skip all those nasty commercials. I know that it supports Google Chrome, Edge, Opera and Firefox. Go to https://www.mrfdev.com/enhancer-for-youtube and read what it can do plus instructions on how to add it to your browser. What I like about it the best is the fact that it will let you not only skip commercials, but it also will let you control what mode the video will play in on startup and much more. Just read the descriptive page I gave you and have some fun watching whatever you like.
I will mention that there is a version of YouTube that you pay for called YouTube Premium. I will let you go find out if you want to pay for it or not. If you use Enhancer for YouTube you can already skip the commercials, so I don’t see any advantage in paying for that feature.
