Won’t you come home Governor

Christie in New Hampshire

Our wandering Presidential candidate Governor Christopher J. Christie is now down in the polls and he may never recover his previous popularity. His campaign has been hurt by the rise of Donald Trump entering the race and being wildly popular with Republicans.

Christie is lagging in the polls and it does not look good. New Hampshire polling numbers are very low for him as of August 25th, “Trump laps the Republican field with 35% to 11% for John Kasich, 10% for Carly Fiorina, 7% each for Jeb Bush and Scott Walker, 6% for Ben Carson, 4% each for Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio, and 3% for Rand Paul.” per Public Policy Polling. As you can see Christie is way down and not even in the running. And per this poll Donald Trump is running away with a tremendous lead, which so many thought would have been Christie’s if not for Trump entering the race. I guess Christie does not think that being in 9th place is too bad, he just brushes it off in a CBS This Morning interview.

Maybe it is time for him to give up and face the fact that his run for the Presidency is over. He has been neglecting New Jersey for too long and I would think that has not helped him at all. Does he not realize that no President has ever been elected without having won his own state? The Governor is not very popular here in New Jersey right now. His being out on the campaign trail is being seen as neglecting the duties of his office.

The Democrats are having a field day with his standing in the polls going down so low and he can not seem to make himself standout from Donald Trump’s shadow. At this time Trump is casting a very long and dark shadow on Christie’s political chances.

Our state Republicans do not have a defacto candidate for the next gubernatorial election that has the standing that Christie did when he was first elected. And the Democrats have many people lining up to run who have the political credentials needed to win.

Many of the Democrats would love for Christie to resign and continue his run for the Presidency. I guess they think that without Christie the New Jersey Republicans would not be able to field a candidate that could have a good chance of winning.

Just so I do not get too serious, at least not all the time, here is my version of the song Won’t You Come Home (Bill Bailey). I hope you will enjoy it.

Won’t you come home, Chris Christie, won’t you come home

I’ve growned the whole night long

I’ll do the fixin’, Chris Christie, I’ll pay the taxes now

I know I done you wrong, oh so, wrong

You remember that hurricane acoming

I remembered your leadership. With nothing but friendship for Obama

I know you’re to blame, now…ain’t it a shame

So Chris Christie, won’t you please come

I said now, won’t you please come

Chris Christie, won’t you please…come on home

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
