New Jersey’s Future

New Jersey Future

Today I am going to write about how I see the future of this state (New Jersey) both politically and financially. If you have been reading my blog for awhile then you know something about my viewpoints on both subjects and how I am a Moderate both politically and financially.

Now to start I will talk about our political future here in the great and near broke state of New Jersey. Most politicians assume that there are only two parties in this state, Democrats and Republicans. In reality they are wrong in making that assumption for there is a third party, an unofficial one but it is a large group of the voting public. That unofficial party is made up of those who call themselves Independents!

These unregistered, as far as the Democrat or Republican parties are concerned, are called independent voters who will sometimes vote for one party then another time vote for the other. They have no party loyalty and thus can not be counted upon to stay within any party line. Here in New Jersey these independents makeup a significant block of voters that only cast their vote based on are number of conditions that they have set forth as their guide posts. In other words they vote for someone because they have the same values and/or express the same political views.

In my opinion this large block of independent voters has kept both the Democrats and Republicans on their political toes, for they can not count on them for any party loyalty. Unfortunately they have been excluded from voting in the Primary Elections, which in the not so distant past they could vote for candidates in the Primary Elections. Yes I know that you can register as a Democrat or Republican just before these elections and then go to city hall and declare yourself an Independent again. But this is time consuming and stupid! I say bring back the old way where everyone could vote regardless of political affiliation.

Anyway I feel that the Democrats will continue down the road of appeasement toward the state workers unions and write more stupid laws that should never see the light of day! Would the continuation of a Republican guarantee any better result, I am ambivalent about that party doing any better. What are needed is less professional politicians and more people who want to serve the people they represent, rather than those who serve to gain political power. Don’t get me wrong, there are some very good Democrats as well as Republicans who are now in office here in New Jersey.

But if we continue to tax and spend the way we have been then this state is going to go broke before too long. We must look at what our politicians are doing and not blindly vote for someone because of the political party they are in!

I can see that if I continue on writing about our financial future in this blog for today that it will become too long and boring. So I will talk about our financial future here in New Jersey next Thursday.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
