Beware the Ides of March!

Presidential Election 2016

Beware the Ides of March! That is what was told to Julius Caesar just before he was assassinated and it still applies today. On this day there are a number of Presidential Primaries going on throughout the United States. Who will be the next to give up and how many will stay the political course?

Will Donald Trump cinch up the Republican Party nomination or will he have to continue to fight off Ted Cruz in the next set of primaries? What will Marco Rubio do if he loses Florida? And will Bernie Sanders gain ground or will Hillary Clinton get enough delegate votes to sew up the Democratic Party nomination?

Today’s primaries results will be very telling for the Donald and might mean that he can finally sit back and know that he will be the Republican Presidential candidate. If this happens maybe he can work on healing the rift that has occurred due both to his style of campaigning and the type of image of himself that he projects; both of which have offended many party regulars and of course the people on the far left of the political spectrum.

While Mr. Trump has 460 delegates, Mr. Cruz has 370 of his own and both Mr. Rubio and Mr. Kasich are well below half of the number of delegates that Mr. Cruz has. Both of the latter two candidates need to reevaluate their thinking on continuing to pursue the quest for more delegates. Neither of them really stands any chance of having any great influence on their party’s convention.

If Marco Rubio loses Florida will he just give up his dream or will he foolishly continue or does he and Ted Cruz use their combined votes to damage Donald Trump? Only time will tell, so don’t take your eyes off of the political bouncing ball just yet!

On the Democrat side Bernie Sanders is trailing by 655 delegates, Bernie having 580 and Hillary Clinton 1235 delegates respectively. Can Mr. Sanders win enough delegates from now till the Democratic convention to win the nomination? Will Hillary Clinton have some political skeleton from her past rise up and severely damage her campaign? The Republicans have been trying to find that one thing that would kill off any chance that Hillary could win against whoever they field. Since Mrs. Clinton has had her hand in many political intrigues there just might be that giant killer scandal in her political closet. She has done too many controversial things and taken too many chances that were iffy.

Now you do have to admit that Bernie Sanders has the foreign policy knowledge and has the political experience needed to be President, but does his socialist outlook hurt or help him with those who want a more moderate candidate? I have observed that he does seem to be moving slowly toward the political center and maybe he will start being more realistic in his political ideas. Only time will tell, so since today is the Ides of March beware all politicians who know what could happen today!

Update (March 16, 2016):

Trump and Clinton won many primaries yesterday; both are well on the way to be the nominee for their respective political parties. Marco Rubio lost his home state of Florida and has dropped out.

What comes to mind about their egos and many of the other presidential candidates is a quote from an old movie.

Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins

Remo says to Chiun at the end, “Chiun, you are incredible!” Chiun replies “Incredible, no I am more than that.”

Does that not sound like a politician to you?

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
