Should our Governor stay or leave?

Gov Christie signing bills

Should our governor stay or leave? The latter is what many newspapers and media outlets are saying. Is this a relevant issue or is just a political move stirred up by those progressive elements within the Democratic Party?

Governor Chris Christie has already responded and said that he will not step down. Further he stated that he will serve out the full remaining term of office. The six papers that initially called for Christie to leave said that “”We’re fed up with Gov. Chris Christie’s arrogance,” the papers wrote. “We’re fed up with his opportunism. We’re fed up with his hypocrisy.“” All of these papers are owned by Gannett; they are the Asbury Park Press, the Courier Post of Cherry Hill and the Daily Record of Morristown. The Star-Ledger also joined in asking the Governor to step down. Others within the public media community have also called for Christie to leave. The one thing all of them have in common is that they never liked the Governor nor did they ever think that he should have been elected.

The editorial by the six papers went on to say “We’re fed up with his long neglect of the state to pursue his own selfish agenda. We’re disgusted with his endorsement of Donald Trump after he spent months on the campaign trail trashing him, calling him unqualified by temperament and experience to be president. And we’re fed up with his continuing travel out of state on New Jersey’s dime, stumping for Trump, after finally abandoning his own presidential campaign. For the good of the state, it’s time for Christie to do his long-neglected constituents a favor and resign as governor. If he refuses, citizens should initiate a recall effort.

Firstly what has Christie’s endorsement of Donald Trump have to do with his ability to continue being the Governor? None that I can see, this is political intrigue at its worst. Gannett is just looking for something to increase its sales. Now what the ?%?* (you can replace the latter with whatever cursing you want) are these idiots thinking of when they call for a recall effort? It would just about be impossible for a recall to succeed with the way it is structured in New Jersey. It seems that Gannett is living on a different planet than the rest of us.

This demanding a recall of the Governor is more politically based than realistically grounded in the needs of the people of New Jersey. Right now Christie does severe as a bulwark against our tax and spend legislators. When the next election for Governor happens then the people can select a new Governor of their choice. The one thing that I do agree on is that Christie has to pay more attention to New Jersey than to the Presidential election.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
