Did you vote today? That is a question many people are going to ask you this Presidential election year. Here is a hour by hour link to election results by Bloomberg for you to see what is happening in the Presidential election.
You may be thinking that my vote will not make a difference or I do not like any of the candidates that are running. Well in truth there is no perfect candidate and your vote does count! In fact if you do not vote in this election, then you really have no right to complain about neither the person that gets elected nor how this country/state/town is run.
What I hear on the radio as I am typing this blog is that a good number of people are turning out to vote. That is good to hear; this is democracy in action. At my voting place I did note that there was a much bigger turnout than I have seen in past years, even though it has been moved from its former location to one that is a little harder to find and I think inconvenient for those who can not climb up steps.
If you are reading this and have not voted yet; is it because you will vote later or is it because you have not made a decision on who to vote for? I hope this will help you make up your mind.
Since I live in New Jersey I can not let pass mentioning that there are two Constitutional questions on the ballot. I talked about the Transportation Trust Fund lockbox in this blog- Gas is the new revenue, I hope it broadens your knowledge and puts a spotlight on the untruths that question 2 has within it. As for question 1, all you have to know that this will never work. With casinos nearby in both New York City and the Poconos, North Jersey casinos will never thrive! Plus they would further harm Atlantic City and its future.
Whoever wins the Presidential Election will be the leader we and especially Congress will have to work with. Let us all hope/pray that there will be no more political gridlock.
Sometimes I wonder if we the people have elected nincompoops that can not see further than their own nose and do not know the art of the political compromise. It is my very fervent hope that we can come together as a country and present a united front to the rest of the world. Many outside of the United States have noted the political turmoil within our borders and are trying to take advantage of it to circumvent are laws and the military protection of our way of life.
