Mr Murphy we do not need

Gun Ban

Mr. Murphy we do not need more restrictive gun laws. What we need is for those on the books to be enforced and some of the crazy ones removed or rewritten.

New Jersey has a set of gun control laws that not only already protect its citizens, but also are the bane of those who are law abiding citizens who have guns. For instance you can not stop anywhere when going to wherever you shoot your gun, you must go directly to that place and back. It does not matter that you are required to keep the gun and ammunition separate, thus making it fairly safe for the general public. And I am quite sure that most responsible gun owners keep their guns locked up even when in transport, so a thief could not use the gun until the lock is broken. So don’t stop to get gas or food carrying a gun, you could land in jail!

If you take a look at the following chart to see the number of gun deaths versus the strictness of a state’s gun laws.

Did you know that it is almost impossible to get a concealed gun permit in New Jersey? And that it is very hard to even obtain a gun permit.

Per NJ.com, “More recently, the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs filed a lawsuit last week over Murphy’s measure to prove a “justifiable need” to obtain a license to carry.

Scott Bach, the president of the group, says it’s nearly “impossible for the average citizen to qualify” for a permit.

But Murphy has argued having some of the strictest gun control measures on the book don’t do enough to combat the nation’s epidemic of gun violence.

Our governor and the liberal progressives have it in their heads to get the following bills passed as soon as possible, this is their short list

* Require background checks for private gun sales.

* Ban armor-piercing ammunition.

* Make people seeking a handgun permit under “justifiable need” demonstrate the urgent necessity for the firearm rather than “a more generalized fear or concern.” The measure would codify an existing rule.

* Ban .50-caliber assault rifles.

* Require gun shops to sell personalized handguns, or so-called smart guns, if the technology is available on the market.

* Reduce the permitted size of ammunition magazines from 15 rounds to 10.

The first one I have no argument with at all, the same for the second, but the third is just ridiculous for it would make it all but impossible for someone to get a gun permit. The fourth one I have no problem with, the fifth is just crazy. They want smart guns, when they do not exist in any quantity and there is no real demand for this technology because of the fear that it will fail more often than not. The last would really not make much difference as it is very quick and easy to change magazines, so this bill makes not sense at all.

The gun culture is not large  here in New Jersey as it is in the Southern states where they have many more gun deaths, so let us not panic.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
