Governor Murphy gave his first budget address and all I got from it that he still thinks that raising taxes is good for New Jersey. Well Phil you are just dead wrong!

For example the sales tax went down this year, per app.com, “New Jersey lawmakers agreed in October 2016 to drop the sales tax three-eighths of a percent as one part of a deal that increased the gasoline tax by 23 cents and made other tax cuts for retirees.” Well Mr. Murphy says that this is insignificant and the people of New Jersey will not notice if it goes back to seven percent. I say that he is wrong and does not understand that we the taxpayers are fed up with the all the excessive taxation, especially without the proper representation. Our legislators just ignore what the people of this state really want, for example they came up with an anti-death penalty law and it was passed even though most of us wanted to keep the death penalty.

What we need is not to tax to death the middle class and the rich, but instead realign our sights on attracting more corporations (big and small) to incorporate here in New Jersey plus have them have their headquarters here. Delaware has the right idea and a lot of corporations are incorporated there because “the business of Delaware since 1792, when the state established its Court of Chancery to handle business affairs. By the early 20th century, the state was writing friendly corporate and tax laws to lure companies from New York, New Jersey and elsewhere. Most of the businesses incorporated here are legitimate and many are using all legal means to reduce their tax bills — something that most stockholders applaud.” One of the advantages is that there is a business court system that uses judges instead of a jury system and there is no income tax on corporations, but there is a franchise tax.

So Phil you and your ideas of taxing us to death are leading us down the wrong path, what we need is to attract people and companies to New Jersey. Not cause them to leave and they are leaving! It is high time to stop this nonsense of thinking that the only way to raise the monies to run this state is to raise taxes!!

Now is the time to make this state great again and attract, not repel businesses and people back to this great state. New Jersey is situated geographically so well that if the business climate were more inviting the state would be rolling in money, instead of crying that more taxes are needed.
