Put his Political Foot Down

Phil Murphy Progressive

I have give Governor Murphy the credit that he put his political foot down and got rid of those at the Schools Development Authority who got hired under the umbrella of their political connections.

Per Bloomberg, “Governor Phil Murphy’s administration fired 30 employees of a state authority that finances local school construction after an independent review found that his former appointee stacked it with friends, family and political contacts who were unqualified for their jobs.

All but three of those dismissed Tuesday from the Schools Development Authority had been hired by Lizette Delgado-Polanco, the former chief executive officer who resigned in April amid media scrutiny of her oversight. A review by an outside law firm faulted the agency for “patronage-type hires” that undermined its work.

So Murphy made a poor choice of an appointee, but he made up for that by firing those who had no business being in the positions that the appointee hired them for.

The Murphy’s political appointee “Delgado-Polanco, the Morristown firm’s report found, had fired longtime agency staffers and replaced them with family, friends and professional contacts. She was vice-chairwoman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee until she resigned in April and had been political director of the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters, which was among a wave of Murphy-supporting unions that were crucial to his election.

It sounds like there is the need for some house cleaning in the New Jersey Democratic State Committee also and it better happen soon or Governor Murphy will look pretty stupid.

Don’t get me wrong, I am sure that the Republicans also need to get rid of their own bad apples. It is nice to see that Murphy is doing something right and I hope that he continues on to get rid of the rest of the political patronage people.

So I in all honesty have to give the Governor an ‘attaboy.’ Keep doing this Phil and maybe we taxpayers can get a break on our taxes.

That is my opinion- Jumpin Jersey Mike
