This past Tuesday was Election Day and all of the Assembly seats were up for election. I received some election literature from the New Jersey Democratic Committee that went point by point on the positives and negatives between their candidates and the Republican incumbents. Political machinations are again taking place here in New Jersey and across the nation as election time comes up next week. I have received campaign flyers that make bogus claims against the party they are running against. In this case they are saying that the candidates in office now are responsible for our taxes being raised and many other politically created problems. Is it time to reign in public union political contributions? Assembly Republican Leader Jon Bramnick thinks so. He said on October 14th ,“that the state teachers union has mounted expensive campaigns against candidates from his party — not to improve the situation in schools, but to save their own pensions.” He is quite right and it disturbs me very much that a public workers union can and does wield so much political power.
